It's just our nature

That was something that the Marquis had heard before, though never from someone close to him, nor from his own lips. At least he could offer the woman the advice he thought would work best for her. It was not going to be to simply ease her feelings, since it was not something anyone would really want be told. No one wants to be told they really are close to powerless. "No one wants to get hurt. So, just try not to be the one to hurt her yourself? That is all you can really do, even if you are always by her side." the redhead offered quietly, wondering, hoping, that the two of them, Cambria and Mati, could be happy for as long as possible. That was something anyone wanted, be it for a friend or for oneself. In the end, what everyone wanted was happiness. It just varied how people got to that conclusion, if at all. "Even if someone hurts her, or you even, you will both have someone standing beside you no matter what."

But Mati's question struck him hard, despite that the redhead knew that it was most definitely coming after this entire conversation. Strelein had never really had someone like that. He had never found anyone, yet, that could make him feel and act the way that the Church woman was acting. He had his crushes like every other person on the planet, but they had not gone very far at all. They had been mostly superficial attractions and only one had actually gotten him far enough to say he had a relationship. Leroy had been his lover for a very short while before it fell apart, thankfully. The Marquis had not felt a real connection to that dog and he was not really someone who wanted a friend with benefits like that, because the husky had been more of a sex buddy than a lover. Lovers loved and there was no love there.

He wanted it. He did, but he was picky, and everyone else mildly tempting was not. That bitter look from before reappeared as he sent his gaze towards his friend. "Not really. No," he said plainly, his lavender orbs meeting her similarly colored ones. "There has been no one, not like this. You know how us guys are." Fingering his necklace, the redhead leaned against the table, all his weight on his supporting arm. "Besides, it actually is kind of hard to find someone for me. I'm picky you see." If only that were the only problem.
