It's just our nature

His words rang true. Mati had already hurt her, and though she didn’t know entirely what was happening she still took the blame for all the pain that Cambria had felt when she had inadvertently rejected her. Mati took all the guilt to help build her loyalty and her commitment, though it was far from the foundation. Never again, she prayed. Never would she allow the other woman to feel that way again, by her fault or the fault of another. It was a secret pledge, one that Mati felt kept close to her heart and didn’t let any see. Not yet, for what they had was so new and what she felt was so intense that it would easily frighten away what had just been born. But what he said did have a heavy power over her, never really having that companionship in the past. Haven was the closest thing that Mati had ever had when it came to a best friend, but his life was no longer adjoined to hers. Both siblings had moved beyond such existences and found something deeper. “That’s nice to know.” She admitted, having yet to think of it like that.

Mati just didn't know what it was to give herself to someone. She knew the importance of it, she knew what it might feel like when she was in the presence of the Marino woman. But how it would be, what it might be like was a mystery to her. How it would feel with a stranger, or one that she didn't trust did not settle well with her. How guys could just do everything, everything that Mati's imagination could think of, without a second thought and without any emotion tie was an even greater mystery. But Strel seemed to find it almost nonchalant, something that was given and received at leisure. Maybe it could be like that too, Mati still didn't know. Strel made the comment that he was picky, and Mati smiled lightly. He seemed to indeed be the sort that needed to find everything that they were looking for. Mati simply believed one thing, and shared it with Strel, “I know I’m lucky, I know that much.” There was so many things that were unknown to her, and she was so naïve in so many ways. Yet that was one thing that she knew and believed whole heartedly.
