shift in the tide (non-mandatory pack thread)

Ember didn't live too far away from the village, and was one of the first to hear the howl that Jefferson had let out. The dark warrior had been expecting something like this, having spoken with Dawali about the changes that were going to happen with the tribe. She wasn't sure of the exact details, but knew enough to follow what her old Kalona had told her. She would follow Dawali's orders until death, if need be.

She jogged down the familiar trails toward the village, her breathing even. She often went for long runs to keep her body in good fighting shape, at least once a day, so the short distance between her and Lotus' den and the ceremonial fire was nothing at all to her. She had noticed that Lotus hadn't been at the den when she had gotten back to it. If he wasn't at the meeting she would wait for him to arrive, then go seek him out if he didn't come.

The two wolves came into view, and she was relieved to see that her adopted son was already at the meeting point. Had he come knowing that the tribe's new leader Jefferson had called for a meeting? Or was it chance? She would have to make sure that he knew of some of the formalities of pack life...about submission and meetings and pack dynamics. The female slowed to a walk as she approached, raising her hand in greeting. Lotus was already busy questioning the leader, it seemed. "She ain't botherin' you, is she?" Her gender-confused son would react badly if she had worded it any other way. "This is a meeting, Lotus--I dunno if he's gonna have a whole lotta time to talk to ya. He howled to call the tribe here."
