In silence he waited, feeling awkward and out of place even though they were both in the one place they called home. As she sorted through the things inside the chest, Silas nervously brushed his dark hair from his eyes, somehow feeling that her judgment placed on the items inside were also placed on him. Would he pass? Her ruby eyes found his again and Silas wasn’t sure just what to say, so he said nothing. Instead, he took in her beauty, feeling vulnerable and too confused to offer her anything in the way of conversation. But finally her soft voice broke the silence, and a black ear flicked as it caught the sound.

"Da, eets mostly just junk," Silas managed to say in response. He took a deep breath, finding comfort as his lungs inflated to fill his chest, before he let his breath seep from his nose. He took the book from the floor where it had fallen from Halo’s grasp and Silas tossed it into the chest, dismissing Halo from looking at the odds and ends. She didn’t seem interested and Silas, as much as he wanted her there, didn’t want to keep her hanging around looking at things she didn’t care about. He rose to his full height, once again brushing the black hair from his face and shrugged. "Figured eet was a good time to get zhis stuff outta here. Maybe clean out mine room." He wanted to find a way to include her in this and keep her from wandering back to her room, but Silas failed to find a way to do this. He was letting his chance at conversation slip away and he wasn’t sure how to save it. Leaning into the doorway, Silas regained a bit of stability and confidence. "Vhat’re you up to today?" He asked, hoping this would buy him some time to regain his head.
