Post-dated for somewhere around the last week of April, after Kol's been killed by Hybrid. Dampwoods! <3

If everyone cared and nobody cried.

Inferni had shifted their borders. A curious white werewolf stood not far from the old southeastern boundary, now fading out of existence with the weathering wind. They were still here, but the borderline that used to mark this area was now vanishing. Bris knew that Dahlia had set fire to Inferni in retaliation for the one set on them, the one that had littered the snowy girl's form with tiny missing patches where her fur had singed as she'd fought it. It had been only weeks ago, and short stubble had only now begun to refill the little patches, giving her somewhat of pockmarked appearance. But the girl was not vain enough to truly care; they were the marks of one who'd done what she could for the sake of her pack. She'd only lost a bit of fur, it was her sister who'd lost far more.

Bris' mismatched eyes narrowed as she stared into what used to be the southeastern edge of Inferni. Losing her sister had been the biggest blow the yearling had ever felt, and her eyes burned with the desire to cry at every thought of her. Her white paw hands clenched tightly into fists at her side, so tightly that her claws dug shallow trails of blood into her palms. Kol had died protecting her from the monster, a monster the black-furred sister had apparently had a history with, and Bris had been helpless to save her. Kol's wish had been for her baby sister to live, to grow and be happy in a peaceful world, but it was clear that though the war was declared over, there was still violence and death abundant in the packlands of Souls.

For a moment, the logical part of Bris' mind spoke up in Kol's voice. What was she doing here? What did she hope to gain? She would die a meaningless death if she crossed the border, she should turn back and plan her revenge more thoroughly, or not take it at all. Death was a part of life, but Bris was unwilling to accept that Kol's killer was anything short of evil incarnate. The coyote clan could never be trusted, that much was more than apparent now. Kol had been seeking a peaceful visit with one of them, a red-eyed male called Anselm, when the monster had struck. It was clear to Bris now: Kol had been blind with misplaced faith. There was simply some blood that could never be untainted, like the side of her heritage which granted Bris her snowy pelt, and it was perfectly clear that Inferni was possessed of the same ilk. They were demons, the lot of them, and Bris would never forgive them.

Clenching her jaw, the young Stormbringer forced her more sensible voice down into the depths of her mind where she could no longer hear its whispers. The only murmurs that flooded her thoughts now spoke of revenge, spoke of cleansing the taint of Kol's killer from the earth so that he could never harm another soul. It didn't matter that Bris had never fought a serious battle in all of her life, and had only sparred half-heartedly with Kol and their brother Drey. It didn't matter that she was so young, and the monster with the red eyes so experienced. Bris had justice on her side, and in her innocent and naive mind, it would be enough. Her mind made up, the white yearling set one foot in front of the other, and deliberately crossed the old boundary into what was no longer Inferni land. If she kept in her direction, she was certain she'd eventually find the new border, and the monster hidden within. And she would destroy him.

If everyone loved and nobody lied.
