Lotus yawned as he slipped from the den. His curiosity hadn’t ceased to stop growing. But then again he was still experiencing everything for the first time in his life. The warmer weather had made him rouse later than he previously had. Instead of being up at the crack of dawn as he had during the winter months the sun had made its debut before he made his way out. He was used to frozen ground instead of soft earth. Used to the flurries of snow instead of greenery. He had to say that he missed the winter while everyone was excited for the spring time and then into the summer months. It wasn’t as if he was against the changing of seasons but he just didn’t understand why there weren’t more that missed the weather where Lotus could blend in with the world around him.

The pup took to wandering as per usual. He still hadn’t managed to make it everywhere yet but he knew enough about the area right around the den. He had to on those days that his Mommy didn’t want him heading too far away. But he was growing, learning to hunt, slipping ever closer to being considered an adult rather than a pup. His Mommy had promised him that soon he would learn to walk like she did. That was a day that he couldn’t wait for. He felt that at that point he would be able to do more. He would be like everyone else and be able to help out like others did. And maybe then everyone would quit confusing him for being a boy. That was one thing he really couldn’t understand. Where was everyone getting the idea that he was male? Couldn’t they see he was female?

Lotus moved off in an aimless direction as he usually did. There was never a plan for the day. Instead he headed to wherever his paws wished to take him. This time they led him to the Working Fields. But more importantly than that he found this well… thing. But inside the thing were large animals. Little did he know that he found the stable where the work horses were kept. “Wow, you are really big. How did you get so big?” The boy found himself talking to the horses and awaiting an answer he wouldn’t get. He had never seen these beasts before and had no idea what they were. “Can you walk like my Mommy can?” From what he could see it didn’t look like it. They were standing on four legs just like he was.

He frowned when he wasn’t getting a response and headed out and over to the next structure that he had seen. There weren’t any animals in this place. Instead there seemed to be plants instead. “Why aren’t these in the ground? Can’t grow in here.” He spoke aloud to no one in general. But as far as he knew he was alone in the area. Lotus gathered up a mouthful of the plants to take them outside of the storage shed so that they could go back into the ground. He had no idea that they had been picked and placed in there to be used later, for when they were needed. The idea that they had gotten up and walked in there made more sense then someone else plucking them from the ground and placing them in there.
