Close to the boy now, the madman was not oblivious of the young heart’s racing pace. It was good—fear was a brilliant force. The boy knew the immediate danger he was in, and there was a touch of silent admiration in the beast’s core as the young wolf managed to maintain control. Unease leaked into the air; a sickening sweet perfume, but the hungry fangs of the boy’s sire remained impassive for now, and that electric blue glare returned to the dying wolf before them. As long as the boy did not immensely disappoint him, his life would not end here.

The child was uncertain as to what to do, and the man was not at all surprised. He knew he was mad; knew that few individuals could understand his cruel motivation and deranged actions. He did not require it, however. He lived for himself alone, eager to draw horrible lines through history with his unspeakable actions. This boy was so close to being chosen, and resembled in many ways the young Haku before the darkness had invaded his heart. Most promising indeed. He felt hunger gnaw at his stone heart, but knew patience well.

The man’s neck bended lightly as he lowered his face down to the boy’s level; breath hot against the poor Dahlian’s neck. ”Guess.” The evil soaking the dark beast’s voice carried the wordless answer to the boy’s foolish question well enough. His mother had sheltered him well, and it was the father’s duty to mutilate the innocent soul. A light, weakened tumour spread through the broken body of the canine, and the blue eyed monster knew that the timing couldn’t have been better. Yellow eyes weeping in agony opened to peer up at the two canines watching, but the loner’s broken voice carried nothing more than a trembling groan in distress.
