[M] I could see it as you turned to stone

Blood still ran deep in his fur. Staining it certain places for sure, but it was the scent of death that was prominent as the forest blurred into fine green lines from his sped up pace. The hare was agile and aware of the predator that loomed over it, twisting and changing the direction of its flight and avoiding the hungry jaws snapping after its nut coated body. The chase ended abruptly when the small game’s next move was predicted and the decaying sets of teeth found their target. Dark liquid wanted to seep out and to the ground, but the large secui let no time be wasted as he tore off and gulped down large chunks of fur, flesh and innards, watching the small animal’s limbs still twitch, unable to grasp that life was no longer flowing through.

Haku did not want meat – he wanted to harvest souls. It took only a few moments to gulp down the little creature and then he was off again, though moving in a pace designed for long distances. There was no more a home with chains administrating his movements. He was free to do whatever he wanted to whoever he wanted. He had always been, of course, but now it was without taking the risk of having followers turn into enemies. It had not been part of the plot to be overthrown before the two groups of canines had murdered each other, but he could work around it, surely. The woman’s blood ran sweet through his system still, and he wanted her family to know what had happened. His smell would rest thick in her fur for days – they would know that he was still there; waiting.

His inner focus was destroyed when he spotted the figure by the tree he would else wise have run past. Paws shifted and his movement died as his strong limbs found roots and let those well used claws dig smoothly into the green forest floor. Two jagged lines of yellow peered gleefully at the other canine; obviously a coyote by form and scent. The woman had experienced little of the normal procedure strangers received in Haku’s presence, but she had been one of a kind, unlike the male. ”Are you alone?” the dark, raspy voice of the beast wondered loudly, watching shadows stretch towards the young man with greedy claws forged by darkness. Haku understood their hunger too well.
