Working on a dream

OMG I'm falling for Conor, lmao! XD

If everyone cared and nobody cried.

Bris smiled softly when her leader turned to meet her gaze. Time stopped for a milisecond as those lilac eyes locked with her own, and she was thankful her thick white fur hid the blush she could feel in her cheeks. Conor's gentle voice washed over her in greeting, and his eyes told her that he actually meant what he'd said. He was genuinely glad to see her, and Bris marveled at that for a moment. She was a nobody, a foolhardy overgrown little girl still trying to figure out what she wanted in life. Why would he be happy to see someone as unimportant as her?

It was easy to forget that the alpha of Dahlia de Mai was hardly much older than Bris was herself. When they'd first met, her very first time in the packlands, both Bris and Conor had been barely a few months old, still all knobby knees and huge paws. With everything that had happened in so short a time, and in the way Conor had simply stepped up without question to lead when a leader was needed, it was hard to remember he was still so young. Most of Dahlia's members were older than he, and Bris wouldn't doubt it if the young alpha felt constantly under scrunity, even though Dahlia seemed to have nothing but faith in their inexperienced new monarch. The Stormbringer would probably feel the same way.

Perhaps that was the secret to his relief and warmth at seeing her beside him. Maybe he was glad to see someone he felt he could be himself with, that he could just be "Conor" around and not some perfect over-striving figurehead for Dahlia de Mai. Whatever the reason, Bris would be lying if she were to say she didn't feel her own little rush of joy at his reaction to her presence. The girl's own warm smile broadened a bit as she found her voice, forgetting for the time being the sadness that had overtaken her most recent days. "It's good to see you too, Conor." His next words took a moment to digest, and Bris had to dig into her memory to bring up the name he mentioned. Bris had never met the girl herself, but Kol had mentioned Haku's timid daughter a few times. "Coli's greenhouse? I didn't know this was hers. She's your sister, right? I never met her, but Kol mentioned her once in awhile."

As she finished speaking, Bris slipped her satchel from her shoulder and placed it on one of the dilapidated tables. Making sure her bandages were tight, the girl dropped to her knees beside the creamy male, following his lead and reaching for anything that looked identical to the weeds he was ripping out. As long as she only tore what Conor tore, Bris was confident she wouldn't accidentally pull out something useful. Work was always more enjoyable with good company.

If everyone loved and nobody lied.
