Under This Apple Tree

Would she sing to them? Quietly at night when no other would disturb them, would she tell them stories or explain how the good lived and what it was to be honest? Stories of great monsters and brave heroes, tales she had told Haven when he was just a bit older then the ones that live within her. Each would have a lesson to be learned, something that needed to be understood in their later years, things that would shape them into the wolves she would always love. How lucky she was. Though the term had only come after an initial panic and did not exist in her mind now without the fear that something might go wrong, but now she knew it to be nothing more then extraordinary. To some the chance to have a litter was not something so joyous, or remarkable. But for Anu, in her little world, it was a miracle.

The sweet smelling grass was refreshing against her rounded belly, cooled by the low growing tree’s branches. Dandelions littered the green stalks, dashing the landscape with yellow manes and pale cotton balls. The pollen tickled her nose, causing it to twitch. Her breath paused, unsure if she was going to sneeze or not the silver and tan fey wrinkled her snout and waited for the ah’choo. With a squeak the eldest Dreamer sniffled and then laughed lightly as if she had just been the butt of the season’s joke. It’s pleasantries certainly had a few tickling surprises.

Blinking, her bright gaze brought the approaching figure into view and Anu gave the male a welcoming and warm smile. Kansas. She spoke, glad that he had found her in her small orchard oasis. She looked up at him, remembering easily the last time they spoke in depth. It seemed like an eternity had passed since them. Will you sit with me? She asked, hoping that he would concede to the Sun’s warmth and seek the shelter the lush single pointed leaves provided.
