tralala (392)

It was almost to the half-moon now. The sable-shaded woman had watched this change more closely than she had ever before in her life, her chartreuse eyes turning to the sky each night to watch that silver slit widen ever-so-slightly. There was purpose in it; she needed the half-moon to come, and she would return to the place that carried that slight scent of death by now, and she would find Larkspur there. The sable-furred woman contemplated what to bring with her for this night, and she had already decided on some things, of course. Peyotl and teonanacatl were givens, of course—but what else? The sable-shaded woman had traveled to the mountain today, wandering beyond Inferni's borders as she was apt to do. She was curious to see the other side, and so she headed up toward the mountain's summit.

A flash of cinnamon and fire in the distance caught the chartreuse gaze of the woman, and she squinted her eyes, peering into the forest. It had looked almost as if fire danced between the trees, silver and gold and yellow reflected off of some moving thing. Intrigued, Eris moved forward, finding that same splash of color in the otherwise dulled world. She was drawn to it, and though the hybrid woman moved slowly, there was purpose to her step, trailing after that strange flame with curiosity plastered on her features. She did not know what it was, of course, but the scent of a pair of canines caught her nose and the sable coyote realized it must have been one of their coats. Such a thing was even more fascinating, and now there was almost hurried quality to her gait. After some time she came across the canine, her fur a brilliant mix of fiery colors, her eyes astoundingly exotic. The sable-furred woman remained motionless for a moment, tilting her head to the side. There was something about this canine that had drawn her here and now it rendered her breathless, perhaps some recognition of sisterhood in the other hybrid.“Your fur,” the sable-shaded woman said softly, her chartreuse eyes shining a mix of admiration and jealously. She did not know which word to say; she could have said all of them, and all put together they would have been inadequate to describe the beauty of the other canine's coat.
