Gray Lines on a Wall

This was the closest Halo had ever been to Silas, but it was all wrong. The electricity still ran through his veins, but this was not how it was supposed to happen. The young hybrid was terribly confused and now that Halo was held close to him, he could sense a feeling of hurt radiating from those crimson eyes. What had he done wrong? Why was she reacting like this? For a moment a flare of anger rose in him when she merely responded to his question dismissively. Before the Russian had a chance to pry more, however, she revealed a bit more before her words trailed away. Silas only looked down at her with brows twisted in puzzlement, trying to piece this all together.

And then her words were directed at Mati and Silas sensed some tension there, unsure of what unspoken grudges these girls might have held against one another. And really, Silas didn’t have much time to process all of this. Halo was leaning against his grip, clearly wanting to be free of him now. And then she was dismissing herself, her voice sharper than Silas expected, causing him to finally let her free. "I don’t get eet," is all he could mumble in response, feeling terribly hurt and confused. He had liked Halo, since day one it seemed, and now he had gone and done something to ruin it all. The worst part was that Silas didn’t even know what he had done to upset Halo like this. Whatever it was, he hoped that he could take it back for he could already feel the pressure falling onto his chest, crushing away any hopes he had had.
