She was fierce, even in her attempt to avoid them and walk away from this situation. Mati watched her closely, secretly fascinated by her intensity. It brewed in every aspect she owned, and Mat found that she could not draw her eyes away from the crimson gaze that shot from her own face to that of Silas and then skirted away from either of them. And when she spoke, there was something lingering around those words that Mati vaguely understood. Mati knew this, knew this feeling but could not completely grasp hold of the meaning.
Silas spoke, his hands letting the fire woman go. Mati was nervous instantly as the body was released and given her freedom. There was such unhappiness in her face, masked by hardness and anger. Deep seeded hate, shadowed emotions that had yet to be exposed and secrets and feelings yet to be told. Mati recognized it, her heart understood and yet her mind was unable to formulate the reasoning.
What she did know was it was her fault, her presence had caused this reaction. What lived between these two pack members was far more important then her mural, more important then her friendship with Silas. For what they had was nothing, compared to what was held in the red eyes of the coyote woman. No, Mati spoke, shaking her head as the pieces fell together. How foolish was she that it only came together now. me and him, we’re not… The words were tangled but Mati found herself waving her hand as if dismissing the notion of it all together.
