Gray Lines on a Wall

Regret and relief flooded her senses as the ice eyed male let her go. Halo did not understand what she was doing either, so that made three of them, it seemed. The anger had lashed out at her, and as her temper was pierced by hormones, she had only followed that insanity. She was a classic example of act before thought. Although the battle was lost in her eyes, she wanted to plead for his forgiveness, but her foolish pride kept her mouth shut. Ruby observed ice, and she could tell that she had hurt him too. Good, a part of the Hydra thought, but if possible she felt worse now with the knowledge that she had ruined something. She knew she only wanted him to hurt because she did not want to be alone in her misery. Perhaps all was lost now. Couldn’t she have settled with his friendship?

She was about to swirl around and exit the scene she had made when the wolfish woman spoke. Her mind seethed at the sound of that voice, but she hesitated nevertheless. Red gaze turned to the autumn hued woman and was surprised to see her shake her head. The words left her blessedly blank for a moment or two before realization set in. Had she understood? What was left now was silent terror. It was strange how deep she was falling when she already had believed the bottom was reached. The wolf understood, but Halo was torn. She and her pride suffered greatly when it was suggested that she was not invincible. Her sugar coated feelings for Silas made her weak as long as she stood alone. Her emotional state was a crazy place, but she recognized the inane relief blooming within. She had ruined everything now anyway.

”..oh,” was all the Hydra could muster. She could feel the weight of guilt starting to pull her down. God, what a scene she had made. She could not imagine that those serene lavender pools were dishonest. She did not even know how to apologize. ”I’m .. so sorry,” her voice cracked, a deep flush spreading beneath the layers of copper fur. Of course she wanted to back up herself and deny the truth that the wolf had discovered, but the madness deserved an end. All she had done was to ruin a great day for all three of them. For that, she found that she was sincerely sorry. Cherry orbs fluttered between the two canines before her, and the scene remained unbearable. Her fault, of course. Always.
