For a moment there was nothing but suffocating silence and Silas could merely focus his attention on Halo standing before him, now free of his grip. Mati’s voice permeated the hallway after a moment and Silas gratefully let his pale blue gaze find her form just behind him. For the slightest moment he didn’t understand what she meant when the one syllable word tumbled from her maw. No, what? She was shaking her head and then more words proceeded and it took Silas only a second to decipher the meaning behind those few jumbled words.

He instantly turned to face Halo again, unable to help the small smile forming along his muzzle. There was a sense of relief in those words Mati had offered and now the young Russian realized what Halo had taken all of this as. She had thought that Mati was alone with Silas because they were together – what relief! "Mati’s juzt a friend," he chimed, clarifying further. Silas could admit that she was a very beautiful young woman and he had had eyes for her upon first meeting Mati, but those were just his youthful male hormones talking. In all reality, Silas knew he only had eyes for one, despite his occasional flirtatious ways. "She’s a pretty girl, but," for a second he almost wanted to reveal his true thoughts to Halo, but refrained, shrugging.

Halo's embarrassment was quite obvious both in her voice and in her general expression. Silas wanted nothing more than to comfort her somehow, but he was lost as to what he could do. "Mati ees painting a mural een mine room." The Praeses figured that if he continued to clarify the relationship had he between Mati, he could repair whatever damage had been caused in the past few minutes. He’d do his best to make it clear he wasn’t with anyone.
