Gray Lines on a Wall

Though his icy gaze was directed at the ground as they walked, Silas let his focus travel to Mati for a moment while she searched for the right word. When that single word fell from parted teeth, Silas’ ears flattened slightly. He was so confused about things and he absolutely hated that. He felt naive and helpless and the only way to really dispel these feelings was to talk to Halo and get the real story behind her actions. Yet, he couldn’t bring himself to face her just yet. He just wasn’t sure what to do.

He offered no verbal response to Mati’s words, merely nodding. The supplies he held in his hand felt light, their presence barely noticeable as he boy’s frame developed a strange sort of numbness. "Cambria, huh?" He finally spoke, raising his focus once again to find Mati. Maybe if he put his mind on other things that would help some. "How long have you… been togezher?" They were drawing closer to the border, but they still had some time to fit in a little more conversation.
