Life in Technicolor

He's trying to be a good boy, I swear! D: He just needs a moment, maybe one of them can go talk to him? :x 300+

Out of the corner of his eye he saw Princess look at him after he spoke, and felt her other hand on his wrist, but he couldn't help what he was feeling and he didn't take his eyes off of his mother. Maybe it was because of his father, what he had done to his mother, but rape was the first conclusion that he had come to. The idea that that could have happened to Anu made him sick and he had already started plotting to avenge her without her even confirming or denying the way that her pregnancy had come into being. Haven had a bit of a savior complex and he was particularly vicious in the defense of those he loved as he loved his mother. It would be the same if it were Mati, or of Princess. It was only a little earlier that his mate had barely escaped that fate.

Thankfully, it was soon denied that anything so horrible had happened to her and some of the tension was allow to leave his muscles, his shoulder visibly relaxing. Still, if it wasn't rape...that meant that she had willingly been with some man and he honestly wasn't sure what to think of that. The Knight shifted uncomfortably, not entirely willing to think of Anu in that light. It had been one thing, finding out Naniko had gone and made herself a new family, but his heart was much more connected to his tawny mother. He didn't like the idea of someone being with her in that way, even if it wasn't unwanted. She mentioned the unexpected manner in which things can happen and he could feel her own embarrassment. Haven knew better than most what she meant. After all, his first encounter with Princess hadn't been at all what he would have expected of himself.

More than that though, he felt the same sting he had felt when he had first met Rio. In his head he knew that this wasn't a way to replace him, but his feelings could often be illogical and he couldn't define the myriad of feelings running through him. He sat quiet, eyes averted to the ground as his mother and mate exchanged words. He wanted to smile, to tell her he was happy, because he was. He couldn't though, there were too many other things covering up and smothering that happiness he should have felt. "Yeah, it's wonderful," he responded somewhat flatly. Then he rose to his feet, a look of embarrassment and shame on his face. "I just...I need a minute..." His feet carried him a little distance off, hoping to sort out his emotions.
