What was the good of family, anyway? Eris had thought it was worthwhile—when she'd been a Kimaris, anyway—at least for a little while. They had provided her with everything she had wanted, and then they had been the first to take it away from her. She had never felt anything for this maternal family; she had always been an outcast, in her own head anyway. Perhaps she had made herself this way; maybe she might have integrated better into her family if she had been given the chance. Now the only thing she desired was knowledge—she had not developed ties to this land and these people, and the only thing she needed of them was knowledge. It would seem that was locked away in her mother's head somewhere, and she would have to dig these answers out, no matter what it took.

The ashen woman displayed no anger, and rather than provide the sable-furred coyote with fuel for her anger, there was only sympathy and superiority; this woman did have a choice, and she had chosen this place, it would seem. The Equites's sable lip lifted just a moment, baring her clenched canines, but she had no verbal response for this. Instead, she inhaled a breath quickly, and rolled her head back, calling for someone to come and take over here. She could go no further, and she knew well enough from her own experience that the woman's blood alone was enough to gain her entry to the clan. Inferni had re-accepted her with open arms, and perhaps Eris should have been extremely grateful for that. She was not. Instead, she was positively surly and livid for no good reason at all—though she would never admit it—as she stalked away from Niobe. Eris had no reason to wait, not with dinner slung about her shoulder and an empty stomach.
