here's where things start getting weird

He had been so focused on trying to track down the scent of the deer that his nose didn't even pick up on the faint smell of another canine in the area. Even if he had, he would have taken it for an old scent, not even imagining for a moment that someone had perched themselves up into the high branches of a tree. Nayati had climbed trees as a youth, but all thoughts of such activities had left his mind as he had grown into the man he was now. Perhaps he should not have, given it would have been an ideal place to hide from prey, especially deer who wouldn't think to look for a predator up in a tree. Still, the male's mind was more or less blank while peppered with annoyance and frustration when the voice drifted down to him, making him jump forward and look around wildly.

Where had that voice come from? He had been so surprised that it took a moment or two before his mind was able to tell him that it had come from above him and not on ground level. Cautiously he looked up in the tree he had been leaning against to find a pale woman with hair like fire hanging down across her face and slender figure. The Utina was familiar with the art of dying fur, as was evidenced by the line across his face, but he had never seen anyone dye their entire mane such a startling shade of red. "Oh, hello," he said, one brow cocking curiously at the woman. "What are you doing up in that tree? If you don't mind me asking." It seemed a very odd thing to do to him, and that combined with her bright mane was painting a very peculiar picture of this woman in his mind.
