The kiss and soft, encouraging words form his mate made him look down at her, mustering a nervous smile. "Thank you, my love," he responded, thumb rubbing her hand gratefully. Almost as soon as that comforting moment had started though, it had ended with Ruri making her way up to the stage. Haven bit the inside of his lip, knowing that there was no escaping it now. He gave Princess' hand one last squeeze before leaving her to follow Ruri up to the stage. He nodded at the previous players as he walked past them, the small gesture all he could manage at the moment. He doubted he would have been able to speak even if he had wanted to. His mind had emptied of all words, the only thing in it the big stage he would be standing on and how all the pack's eyes would soon be upon it again.
Ruri took her place and Haven moved to retrieve his guitar, slinging the strap over his shoulder so the instrument rested across his chest and abdomen. He remembered the practice, and that Ruri wouldn't start to sing until he had played a few bars of the song, but his fingers felt shaky and stiff at the same time. Jade eyes found the golden hued orbs of his mate in the crowd and he zeroed in on her, creating a mental block to all the other faces currently turned in his direction. The Knight took a deep breath, staying focused on Princess, and began to play the song.
