hide your feathers on the back porch

Sorry, this post is about absolutely nothing. 300+

The room was dark and chilly, speaking of stormy weather outside. Glancing up from his book to peer out the window, Kansas was startled to see such darkness. Rain drenched the glass, sounding in small pocks as it struck the smooth surface. He could hear rain dully pounding the roof of the mansion, even through the upper rooms above the living area. The weather had been dull like this for weeks, it seemed, with only short breaths of sunshine between rampages of rain. He hoped that when the earth had quenched itself, the weather would be sevenfold as beautiful and warm. It was definitely time to take the children outside and show them around Crimson Dreams; hopefully soon the weather would permit. There was only so much for growing minds to do in the confines of the large house and its porches.

The slim werewolf set his book down on the worn cushions of the couch and stretched spindly arms over his head. He had been reading most of the day — and when he became lost in a story, there was no way he could predict what time of day it was. Time and creativity did a wonderful job of losing him. The Colonel stood from the couch and slowly made his way to the window, hoping for a telling glimpse of sunlight. The prospects of this were slim he knew even before he reached the windowsill, for in the previous moments the room had quite possibly darkened. Pearly fingers rested against the chipping wood of the sill, eyes slanted up toward the sky. Eh, he complained softly, seeing that the clouds were not just gray, but black in their shadows.

He had no more time to whine, however. In the next instant, Kansas was nearly thrown to the floor. A loud clap of thunder shook the floorboards beneath his feet, causing him to almost jump from his skin. As soon as he had recovered, though, he grasped the sill with new energy and grinned up at the clouds. Whoa! he exclaimed to himself. A freak thunderstorm, which was almost as exciting as sunlight.
