That was probably what was making her even more annoyed by Zafier's words. He turned a curious jade gaze to his mate, but he did not speak then, for he felt the pressure of Ever leaning against his leg then.
The King knelt down beside her, looping his arm around her neck in a hug. He was glad to see that she was well, though she seemed to be a bit nervous. "There is no need to be shy, Ever," he said with a smile. He did not want her to think he was chiding her—he certainly was not—but he wanted her to feel comfortable in her new home and with her new family.
