Heath was not helpless, and was not one to feed off the winnings of others. If Ever had been a male Heath might have bowed out of the conversation and kept his pride whole and full and found something that he could take back to Ruri. But, she made him feel welcomed at the foot of her kill, and it was growing ever harder to keep himself from diving nose first into a bloodied patch of deer.
She spoke, giving her name and Heath gave a small nod as he accepted it into his memory bank. It was then that she took to the feast, for such a catch was calling to all of their senses. The coy wolf kept his eyes on her as he stood to approach to dead beast, knowing well where he stood at this meal.
There was something very different about them all when they came to a fresh bloodied corpse.
