An Impulse

It was like the calm before the storm (though of course it was after their personal storm), the settling of stomachs that had pushed them to become the animals that at times they wished to forget they were. The moments after the chase were almost more crazed then the actual hunt and kill. Though he had calmly asked for her permission to join her meal Heath had felt the uncontrollable need and the blood in his mouth had taken its course and killed his any power he had over his instincts. But now they could relish, savor the flavor that faded on their tongues, leaving them dry and allow their bodies to digest.

He heard her shuffle in the grasses, and looked up himself. He yawned, simply his body telling him he had eaten too much and the only plausible idea was a nap. No, he thought. Heath stood, stretched his legs and then falling into a full stretch of his back, shoulder and hip joints. His stomach felt distended from his lean build, though he figured it was merely his brain reminding him that he needed a bit more muscle mass.

A lazy summer day. He commented mostly to himself, forcing his legs to stay standing rather then fall into a sitting position as he paused in his movements. The corpse sat next to them, and though he didn’t have much of a problem with death so close and present he asked, I was going to find some water, join me? Gold eyes looked at the female, wondering if she would follow.
