Though the air was fraught with a vague tension, there was no hostility in the shade-colored female. Weak and combat-inexperienced as she was, Eris simply could not risk the slightest provocation to this bi-colored female. Not that she was even particularly inclined toward aggression at the moment. The tension here was far from thick and heavy-handed; instead, it was a simplistic sort of wariness, an animal cautiousness of something different from oneself. Eris was far from a bastion of tolerance and acceptance, but she was not hateful as her mother; she would not attack on basis of such simplistic differences as blood or species. She had been on the receiving end of this treatment, and it was not one she wished to mete out to anyone else. Even beyond that, she had discovered there were similarities between herself and this Yuki canine. The hybrid understood the other woman to some extent—her brother had abandoned her just as Kaena had abandoned Eris. Different family, different victim, same shit.

At the other canine's words, Eris tilted her head quizzically, a look of confusion on her face. “Not worth saving?” she asked, honestly perplexed. “He left you. Doesn't matter if you're dumber than a rock and lazy and spoiled, you're family, and...” she trailed off, shrugging her shoulders helplessly. He was supposed to love and cherish her regardless, as was Kaena—neither woman's family could blame their children. They had been the ones to leave and run away. “I guess it would just be nice if family could accept you no matter what,” the sable-shaded woman finished, shrugging once more. Of course, there was a whole bucket of reasons why Eris was the outcast—her paternity was one of them, but of course, she was not entirely without fault. Of course, such a thing was impossible for the Equites herself to admit.
