Hope is the Dream of a Soul Awake

Had it really only been a day since she had met Savina? The girl with shining sable fur could hardly believe how her life and outlook had changed, practically overnight. Previous to her meeting with the Commander of Crimson Dreams, the girl had been a mere wanderer. She had been a young vagabond weary of the road she traveled. But now she was not a wanderer without roots. Instead she had a place in the world, and a name that tied her to it. Junior Brigadier! Bermuda would do her best to make Savina proud.

After spending so many days to herself, she was used to being alone. It did not really bother her as much as the empty hours on the road had. Now she was certain that she could find others, if she needed them. But the truth of the matter was that Bermuda was just a little shy. She had seized her dream, to have a place in a pack where she could grow up and have a place to call home. That did not mean that she wasn't nervous. The girl had never fit in with her erratic parents or older siblings. Although she was very fond of them, despite their difference in lifestyle choices, she had never quite fit in with them due to her different desires and drives in life. She still held on to that fear. What if no one here liked her? What if she was too different? The girl just wanted to belong.

Since her parents had given her life on the road, Bermuda had never really grown familiar with any particular set of surroundings. But one thing her parents did often was travel along the seaside. After departing from Rabbit Lake, Bermuda had felt the need to travel south. She did not really know why, but she was happy to explore her new home. Bermuda was more than a little hungry, although she had not told Savina that. She did not want to be a burden on the Commander, even though the ebony wolf had stated that she was young enough to be cared for here. Bermuda was going to forge her own path and prove her worth. She had been taking care of herself for a long time, at least by her perception.

As the smell of sea salt entered her nose, she let go of a breath she did not know she had been holding. This shoreline, even though she had never been here, gave her a little bit of a sense of familiarity. That gave her a small measure of comfort and she felt herself beginning to relax a little bit. Perhaps she could catch a small fish or creature within the sand to eat. The sable colored girl cast her amber-yellow eyes to the sand and began her search. As she hunted for something small enough for her to catch, she allowed herself to hope and wished not to be disappointed by the fact that she let herself do that. Savina, who led this pack, seemed to be so friendly, kind, and open to letting her stay here. She fervently hoped that the others who called Crimson Dreams home would be just as welcoming and wonderful as the black furred lady. If there were not, then Bermuda resolved that she would make herself likable enough to fit in with them. It would have to work! It just had to.
