As the storm rolled in, Clover found herself trapped in the city with no other choice than to bunker down in one of the dilapidated buildings for the night. She could have made the trek back to Drifter Bay in the storm, but the girl would have had a miserable journey had she decided to do that. Thunder cracked over head all night long, loud and powerful enough to send the slightest shiver reverberating down the girl’s spine and through her small frame. The purple tapestry had been wrapped around her shoulders while she laid her head on an old mattress. Though her night had been less than serene, at least she had managed to stay dry.

Now that the storm had eased up, Clover made her departure from the city, northwest as to wind up to Whisper Beach. No matter what the weather, the young coyote always found the ocean view to be a peaceful thing. She carried her belongings in a small knapsack which was slung over one shoulder, her walnut hair cascading down her back and falling over her shoulders in a dark, shining curtain. Lately she had fallen discouraged, having spoke to her father in Inferni and realizing that her sisters were nowhere to be found. She had left Juniper Peace with every intention of reuniting with her family, and now it seemed as if her efforts had been in vain. In the end, the young Lykoi had been tossed into the world alone and it seemed as if she had no one to turn to. She missed and needed the like minded creatures of that gypsy hippie pack, but they were a long way from here.

Tears came to obscure the straw gold of her eyes, and the young coyote walked with her head hanging loosly against her chest. Today was one of those days were everything came crashing down, and even those things that normally brought her happiness couldn’t deter the feelings of sadness. Clover didn’t even make it to the beach before she decided she’d need to rest, and the pastel line of rocks that marked Dahlia’s borders called to her. Settling onto the ground, Clover buried her face into both hands, letting the tears spill over the brims of her eyes and dampen her soft, tawny fur.
