It did not take his brother very long to arrive, and Sasha was glad about that, for he only had a few short minutes to stand around, alone, waiting. His call had been loud enough, or perhaps Dmitri hadn't even been far away in the first place, and they had somehow by chance ended up in the same place, almost together, before he had suddenly felt like he needed his brother's presence. He turned swiftly upon hearing his brother's voice the first time, to face him, or where he thought the voice had come from.
And, there he was, smiling and squatting and tilting his head, but Sasha did not see his tail, not that he needed to see it to be able to understand what kind of mood his slightly older brother was in. His lip twitched, smiled for a second, before it became straight as a line once again; his wonted expression for casual settings. Nyet,1 he responded, and shook his head once as an extra negative. Только ты.2
Sasha walked over to him, which wasn't all that far considering they had already been relatively close to each other, and squatted down closer to the ground, himself. But, he did not like that position as much as Dmitri seemed to, and so used his arm to ease himself down into a sitting position on the soft ground, relaxing his hind legs and hugging his knees close to his chest like a young boy in the cold. It was the first time he felt comfortable in hours, and he had not realized this; when was the last time he sat down? Mid-afternoon?
Это слишком рано говорить.3 He shrugged his shoulders, and then reached up one hand to rub at and fiddle with his piercing, not really noticing it or thinking about what he was doing, just stalling until he could come up with something else to say. He thought for a few seconds, for several seconds, maybe even a minute or two in silence. Then, he decided he had an answer appropriate to mutter. Хорошо здесь. Но, я думаю, что я всегда буду скучать по родине.4
He looked up at his brother, then, and let his ear alone, bringing his hand down to help the other one in hugging his knees. А ты, Дима? Как вам это нравится?5
