She had no clothes of her own. The fact was steadily becoming more obvious to others outside her family. Ever had a limited selection of choices between absolute cheap hand me down’s from her critical step sister or a couple of old fashioned silk dresses from a chest in the stables. If the girl had known Strelein was a tailor she may have came to him sooner. His gaze raked her filthy paint covered body and she couldn’t help feel reproachful. She rubbed her arm and looked down at the grass coated with colored oils, red curls falling in a screen beside her face. The silver female was just beginning to gain back the weight she had lost during the depression and she wasn’t ready to show off her body.

“I have a few dresses … and some outfits from Amaranth …”

Her face fell as if she wasn’t sure what she was saying was the right thing. Being the point of convergence was one of the places the young wolf dreaded. She was about to say more about how she didn’t need clothes but the look the man gave her stopped the words in her throat. It seemed evident that no matter what Ever said she wouldn’t get her way. Curly tail sinking with discomfort, the silver mistress thought of having clothes of her own. Truthfully, she didn’t need any when she at least had some scrap of fabric to cover herself. The thought of pants chafing her sleek black legs painted a cringe on Ever’s face. She hardly wore pants, preferring skirts or airy dresses at the least, so the ripped and baggy jeans she wore now were acceptable.

A cold fall breeze tore recklessly through the large clearing and snapped Ever’s shirt, paint drifting off in the blaze. Leafs colored in a whirlwind of yellows, reds, and faded greens were ripped from their weak stems by the gust and carried closer to the thin grey line of water on the horizon.
