If everyone cared and nobody cried.

It was raining. The water from heaven pattered just beyond Bris' second-floor window, the sound making the young woman smile. It was funny how people's hearts could change. When she was a child, Bris used to hate the rain. It would depress her, its soaking pressence plastering her fur with coldness and making her miserable. Yet now it calmed her, its quiet song the perfect background to her reading. Her white form was curled up on her bed on its side, a soft blanket covering the legs that were pulled up a bit toward her, one hand propping her head up as her eyes darted to and fro at the open book before her. This one was a romance, one that she'd already read several times. "Romeo and Juliet" was a tragic story, but also one that filled her with hope.

Bris had been walking on air for weeks now, ever since that miraculous midnight kiss. The Stormbringer could still hardly believe it had happened, that it had been real, but it had. A soft smile tugged at her lips as the memory washed over her, the feel of Conor's tender lips still fresh as winter air on her own. Her mismatched eyes looked up from her reading, focusing on the three half-finished pendants that lay atop her dresser with her jewelry kit. They were for Conor, all of them. Only one would make it to the final stage, but Bris was having a terrible time choosing which stone suited him best. There was a gorgeous cut of amethyst, carved into a point for easy mounting as a pendant. Amethyst was known for its ability to help with sleep and dreams, something Conor could definitely still use. Beside that was a beautiful, shiny piece of black onyx, carved into the form of a raven with wings spread wide. Black onyx was highly useful in repelling negative energies. Bris had originally thought of hematite rather than onyx, but hematite absorbed negative energy rather than repelling it, which led to most hematite stones needing to be broken and buried for the negativity to be released. As such, it wasn't something Conor would be able to keep permanently. He'd be constantly needing new stones. Bris was ok with that, and would search for more small pieces for him to keep around him in his room, but she'd wanted something more permanent for this particular gift.

The final stone that lay on her dresser was a bright garnet. The red stone had protection properties, but also aided in increasing confidence and security. Conor was turning out to be a great leader when it came to Dahlia de Mai, but Bris also knew that the cream-colored male still doubted himself quite frequently. That was why she'd chosen the garnet, as a physical representation of the support that she would always give to him, no matter what. It was true that that magical kiss could turn out to be just that: a kiss, and nothing more. But Bris refused to deny the love she'd come to develop for Dahlia's leader, and she would do anything in her power to help him. Things hadn't progressed any farther between her and the Soul male since that night, but they hadn't gotten awkward either. Only time would tell if they were meant to be. If they weren't, Bris would still remain in Dahlia, supporting Conor as best she could. She couldn't see spending her life any other way.

A sudden knock at the door jolted Bris out of her wandering thoughts. For a moment, Bris raised her brow and wondered just who it could be. The sound was too abrassive to be Conor's, and Gideon knew he never had to knock and could just barge right in. After all, Bris was the one feeding "his" pups. A stranger, maybe? Perhaps, but one with manners nonetheless. Besides, there was no way someone without Conor's blessing could move around Dahlia, let alone the alpha's chosen residence, so freely. Not bothering to remove herself from her comfortably prone position, she merely let her voice answer. "Come on in, it's not locked!"

If everyone loved and nobody lied.
