*gigglesnorts* I definitely think I prefer the Jassypants nickname or something. XDD You're right about Jassface. *cough* BTW, Bris has been to Jasper Valley once, in the summer of 2008. ^^ Maybe they could vaguely remember each other? But only very vaguely? XD

If everyone cared and nobody cried.

The face that greeted her as he walked through her door was definitely not what Bris was expecting. The male was a complete stranger, though there was something vaguely familiar about him. He was handsome, with warm cinnamon and clay colors and beautiful eyes. His shoulders were broad and strong, and a well-loved leather satchel hung from his shoulder. The hand not resting on the doornob was placed atop that satchel in a protective, almost security-blanket sort of way. As the white woman's mismatched eyes traveled back to the male's face, she realized why.

The stranger was holding himself together only by a thin thread. His ears were held back, his posture slumped and somewhat defeated. He was silent and nervous, not seeming to know what to do. But it was his eyes that tugged at the woman's heart. They were beautiful, but full of a deep sadness that emanated from the stranger's entire form. As alarmed as Bris initially was at the prospect of a strange male showing up at her bedroom door, all thoughts that he might be a threat melted away. Those eyes were not the eyes of a miscreant, but the eyes of someone suffering the deepest form of sorrow.

It took a few moments, but Bris slid herself off her bed, leaving the open book where it lay. Her footsteps were quiet as she crossed the floor to the stranger in a bold move. Sapphire and amethyst eyes were full of understanding and empathy, and her voice was soft as she spoke. "Who are you? Was there something you needed from me?" Her words were warm with concern, and she wouldn't rush him. But she was dying to find out why he seemed so familiar to her. His build, his eyes, even his mannerisms, they almost reminded her of her brother-in-law.

Elliot had been a huge part of Bris early life, along with her sister Kol. They'd been the model of what Bris always believed true love should be, despite the hardships that had plagued them. But Bris hadn't seen nor heard from Kol's Oriel mate since before her sister's death. Drey was supposed to have brought their brother-in-law the news of Kol's passing when he'd taken his pups from Dahlia a few weeks ago. Had it not been for the new pups that Gideon had found and everything else that had required her attention here in her home, she would have gone with him for a visit. It had been over a year since she'd mingled with that side of the family, and she thought about her relatives in Jasper Valley frequently. Maybe Drey would convince Elliot to return to Dahlia with him whenever he came back. It would bring Bris a lot of joy to have her brother-in-law back in her life. He'd been one of the few bright spots in her childhood, helping her to cope with the disgust most of her other family members displayed at the sight of her. Thoughts of an emotional reunion echoed through her head as she waited patiently for the strange male before her to find his voice.

If everyone loved and nobody lied.
