If everyone cared and nobody cried.

It seemed to take forever for the male to find his voice. In the interim, Bris took the time to study him a little more. He looked...defeated. That was the proper word for it. The way his shoulders sagged, the way he trembled with unshed grief, the haunting black holes that lingered in the depths of his eyes, they all contributed to the overall impression of a young male who'd been utterly defeated by life. Bris had seen the look before, in her sister-in-law when Skripi had been killed by the Dawnrunners. Her half-brother's mate had lived for him, had made the Stormbringer male the very meaning of her life. Once that was taken, Brigid had shattered. She'd developed the same hollow nothingness to her eyes, walking through the rest of her life waiting for her body to shatter the way her soul had. Brigid had tragically come to the ultimate decision to take her own life and rejoin her beloved mate, much to the sorrow of the Stormbringer clan. Bris only hoped this strangely familiar male before wasn't on the same path to self destruction.

The white Stormbringer gave the stranger all the time in the world he needed. She stood still before him, recognizing the fragile grip he had on himself. One wrong gesture by her could send the male spiraling into himself, and that was the last thing Bris wanted to happen. The male was visibly struggling to find his voice, and she knew that if she were patient enough, he'd find it. The silence that hung between the two wolves was broken only by the gentle rain outside Bris' window, its grey atmosphere beautiful in its own way, and helping to keep an air of calm about the day.

Of course, when he did find it, the words that drifted from his lips caught Bris totally by surprise. At the same time, they seemed to confirm that this male had something to do with Elliot's side of the family, though she still had no idea who he was. Why was he here about Elliot? The Oriel male was back in Jasper Valley the last she'd known, he'd gone there for some family reason after initially following Kol back to Dahlia. Bris hadn't seen the male since. What could this male's visit possibly have to do with Bris' brother-in-law?

To be honest, the tone of the male's voice when he'd mentioned Elliot's name worried the woman. Her eyes narrowed a bit in further concern, and she made the bold move of stepping closer and laying a gentle hand on the stranger's shoulder. The Stormbringer made it a point to never get this close to anyone she didn't know, but it was fairly clear by this point that the stranger had no intention of being a threat. "What about Elliot?" Her voice was gentle and patient, almost motherly. It was like coaxing something emotionally important out of a scared, confused little child. Bris would let the male speak at his own pace.

If everyone loved and nobody lied.
