Sanuye was still settling into her new home, but she was glad to see that she was already beginning to make some friends with the tribe members. Liliana was her first new friend in the tribe and was eager to tell Nayati that she was already making friends; however, she wanted to get to work on her duties as well. She knew most of her duties were taking care of the fires during the ceremonies, but there was also the Great Fire that was to remain lit and could only be tended by the master fire keeper. The coyote longed to receive such a title and wanted to be the one to tend to the fire herself. She wasn’t greedy or ambitious, she just wanted to make some goals for herself so it didn’t seem she was bored all the time. While there were still some adjustments that needed to be made to her new home, she wanted to speak to Dawali about the great fire and what she would have to do to earn the respect to approach and tend to the great fire.
While on the way to the village, Sanuye found some old feathers laying around on the ground. This was perfect. She wanted some feathers so she could hang them from the entrance to her den. She had a bit of string back at the den that she could use, but for now she was just collecting the feathers that she was going to use. Once she arrived to the village, she looked around, making her way to the Great Fire. She sat at the foot of it and smiled as she could imagine herself here tending to the fire itself. She closed her eyes and began to say a small prayer of thanks in her head. She thanked the high powers for giving her the strength to make it here and find a friendly tribe.
