Alder didn’t fully understand that the games that his brothers played were intended on teaching him the ways of a wolf’s life. He did not stalk, nor did he wish to pounce and roughhouse with his siblings. It would hurt his hunting abilities later in life, and he would be shamed because of it. But the meek boy could not get himself to do such things. His brother’s words were reassuring, and he hoped that the next time one of his brothers wished to wrestle with him he could remember these words from a knight.
The helmet did not glean in the sun’s light as the larger brother lifted it, and confirmed that he would indeed hold it for him. Thank you. He replied, a smile on his masked face. The puppy pranced down the hall, his tail waving behind him. It was not as high as it could go, but it was higher then normal. Alder was happy that they had come here, happy that his brother had been able to assure him that to fight was only the resort and that he had found something that had served to protect rather then hurt.
