a time to chase

Sorry it's kind of a short...and weird post. Lol. Hope this area's okay! WC: 407.

Kesho Maisha

Now, Kesho ran through the forested terrain with haste: he was chasing something. Darting through the trees with great agility in spite of his age, he tracked the animal. It was a young doe he was in pursuit of. The male was hungry, and despite his lack of companions, he decided to hunt. Easily capable of bringing down this small creature alone, he decided to have a bit of fun with it. The bronzed coyote sped up, creating a wide circle around the animal, surprisingly without its notice. Racing at top speed, the male darted ahead of the doe and spun around, coming to complete stop with finality. The creature was racing towards him now, eyes widened in fear and latent realization as this master huntsman leap, sideswiping the creature and slamming into her with his full body weight. This motion knocker her easily off course, and he turned quickly to deliver a deathly bite to her neck. In quick succession, he administered several more, barely dodging a strong, final kick from the hooved animal. Good to know you're not entirely incapable of ruthless slaughter now, Kesho. The voice of the other echoed in his head, cooing taunts consistently. Generally, they were ignored.

Regarding his kill, he grinned widely, feeling invigorated at the prospect of having someone to share a meal with now, perhaps. Resting for a moment, the coyote cleaned some of the dripping blood from his paws and face, before indulging himself in the meal. After eating his fill, Kesho traipsed, nearly prancing, towards a nearby stream and bowed his head to the slow-moving, shallow water. His pink tongue appeared, starkly light-colored in contrast with his current appearance, and he drank, as any parched dog might, with great fervor. He sighed and gazed around, crimson orbs inhaling every bit of landscape. Every time he stopped to remember, he realized how greatly he had longed for this, since his departure. Greatly pleased to have returned, and now to have had his first truly filling meal since, he paced back to the carcass, still fresh and bleeding, warm and delicious. Kesho lifted his muzzle to the air and let out a low, pleasant call. Merely a statement to any other coyote nearby that said: There's food here; come eat some! It was unusual for him to do this, but at the moment he longed for company-- something else that had recently been rekindled in the dog's mind.
