Dark scarlet were filling with distrust now. Tiny, white puppy teeth were bared at the dark lady, though only for a moment as he scrutinized her shadowed face. He was young enough to know how to distinguish behavioural clues, and instead of speaking up, the woman remained silent too, for a little while. Her stature seemed to copy submissive details, and this soothed the young boy’s pounding heart. The grimace and underdeveloped puppy growl was turned off after a moment more of consideration. Perhaps her intention had been good, and that mattered.

It was clever of the adult to give him time to recompose himself, and when she finally spoke up again, the young Lykoi male was again trusting enough to pay attention to her words. However, his ruby orbs became those of uncertainty as he tried to understand her questions. Parents? Them? Itachi was well old enough to distinguish between his mother and grandmother. Their roles were not confusing, and as he was a lone child in the clan, he did not know what was considered normal. In this little bubble world of his, this was what was normal.

The young puppy licked his lip. ”My mommy is Halo..?” His uncertainty was plain to catch in his voice. There was only one parent that had ever participated in his life. Perhaps what this woman meant was who was taking care of him. ”Mommy Halo and grandmother Kaena.” It sounded right in his ears. ”And I am with grandmother, but my mother doesn’t live there because she lives somewhere else.” He knew where though, because once he had lived with her, though that felt like a long time ago.
