And she was waiting at the door

The child did not wander away for now, and Silas was content with his ability to captivate the young Inferni pup for now. He wasn’t sure just exactly how to lure him back to Inferni, but Silas was for sure not going to leave him here all on his own. After all, he wanted to protect Halo from any hurt. That, of course, included Itachi. Even though the child was a product of something less than love, Silas was sure that if anything happened to him it would still somehow hurt Halo. The boy did not live with her, so her relationship with him must have been anything but usual, but they were still mother and child. In the end, he was sure that would count for something.

He watched as the boy’s tail flicked and settled by his hind feet, and pale blue caught themselves studying the strange crimson framed by purple. They were eyes entirely unique, Silas thought, and they intrigued him just as much as the puppy himself seemed to be by Silas’ own. The words that came from the boy’s mouth caught him off guard. "Zhanks," he managed to muster in response, though brows twisting slightly from the surprise. After an instant, however, they smoothed over and the boy’s features were highlighted by his characteristic Cheshire smile.

Silas, having not really been around many pups, wasn’t sure how to gauge Itachi. He was aware that children were different from one another and that it could take careful usage of phrasing to convince them, especially if they were smart. For now, he wasn’t quite sure what to think of Itachi. The Vigiles had the impression that he was a smart boy, but he still could not decide whether or not he saw Silas as an elder, a potential figure of authority. Of course, Silas wasn’t really one hungry for power, so he did not care whether or not Itachi saw him this way. He only hoped that he might look to him for instruction. And in this case, he hoped the boy might heed his words.

But as Silas suspected, the boy was smart and his response reminded Silas of himself when he had been younger. If one were to encounter the Silas of the present, it would have been hard for them to realize he had once been a mischievous and, sometimes, manipulative child; it was the only way to draw attention to himself in the complex of Russos. "Zhis ees true, yah," Silas responded, folding his arms across his chest causally, and offering a nod, the onyx locks bouncing slightly over the blue of his bandana. Icy blue quickly assessed the area around them, to find they were still alone, before a smile bloomed. "Vell zhen, Itachi. Vhere vere you headed to? Ve can continue off zhat vay." If he was determined to explore the world outside of Inferni’s borders, then the least Silas could do was to play makeshift mentor - a big brother of sorts.
