And she was waiting at the door

A rare, almost mischievous smile settled on the smooth, horizontal line of the young child’s face. He did recognize the traits of surprise in the adult’s face, and was content to see that he too had the ability to insert an impression onto another being, though this was a minor, unimportant way of proving such a thing to himself. It was good to hold the knowledge that sometimes, others did listen to his words, afterwards offering a genuine reaction to those words. Was it wrong to compliment the darling colour of his eyes? The man said thanks in his strange, hard accent, and the child’s blooming smile was interrupted as lips pursed to silently echo the way the word had rolled from the adult male’s mouth. There was no audible echo of the word though, for Itachi knew it to be considered rude to mimic another, and was reluctant to do so as long as this man knew both his mother and caretaker. The young prince did not want to risk tales of lacking discipline find their way into his family’s ears, for he was rumoured to be a good boy that never caused trouble for his peers.

Itachi liked to consider himself quite bright, though he had no other children to compare himself to. It left it open for his arrogant imagination to soar. He knew that puppies normally liked to be silly games, for several adults had engaged him and to an extent insulted him by attempting to coach him into things he had no interest of participating in. He had a certain understanding of that they were just trying to be friendly and get to know him better that way, but he would not stand for it. The young Lykoi prince was probably spoiled overall, and his stubbornness was never pleasant to witness once it took hold of his body. It did not distort his mood often though, and he remained quiet, perhaps a bit more sceptical in general for those around him, but he was never outright rude and out of line unless he actually did feel threatened by another. Like that strange aunt that had wanted to lift him up onto her back—he had not liked that one bit, and had flashed his milky white puppy teeth at her when she had tried to do something against her will.

Not to say that Sepirah had left a bad impression on the boy, for the woman had immediately realized her mistake and had acted in a way he rarely saw from adults. He had respect for that golden eyed woman, because she had openly displayed respect for him. It mattered. Ears lifted and brought him back to the current scene, as the male agreed with him. Two were not one; Itachi was with company now. A finely curved line appeared on the boy’s face; a reserved smile, as the man folded his arms across his pale chest. The young one wondered when he would discover the way to change into something else. The adults around him spent the majority of their time in their two legged forms, and he would lie if he was to claim that he was not jealous of those forms. They seemed capable of so much more than his simple form. His paws were so clumsy in comparison to the nimble fingers they possessed, and he envied them their impressive height. He wondered how tall he would turn as he grew.

A smile bloomed in the adult’s face, and the younger one’s face took on a more serious shade as he listened to the next words spilling out into the relaxed atmosphere. Where was he headed to? Ears pulled back towards his skull, and eye contact was destroyed as the young Lykoi moved his chaotic orbs to observe the landscape around them. He was very fine with the idea of continuing, but he knew nothing of these lands. All he knew was that it was not Inferni, and that was not informative knowledge to carry. What was out there? Perhaps he would eventually meet the sea as he did if he wandered long enough in a direction within Inferni’s familiar hills. Deep sunset eyes returned to the adult after a few moments of obvious though, but the little male had become no wiser, unfortunately. He disliked the feeling of not knowing—he wanted to be able to provide the other with a more concrete answer, but what was there to do about it? He should just lean against honesty. After all, how could he know where he was headed if he had never been properly instructed on what lay beyond the safe borders of the infamous coyote clan?

”Well,” he started, his gaze seemingly shy as it struggled to find stability as he looked to his superior. He had yet to ask whether or not this male was in fact a part of Inferni, but he decided to trust in the scent carried by the optime’s form. He knew his mother and others, so he had to be okay. If not, then this was anyway a risk that the young Lykoi was content taking. ”I don’t know, I just know that this is not Inferni lands.” Words were simple and stupid in his mouth, but his vocabulary and ability to express himself better was restricted by his youth. An idea bloomed within the child’s brain, and he felt quite clever to have thought of this. Adults knew so much more than he, so this Silas would probably be able to enlighten him where they were headed. Muzzle turned in the initial direction he had originally headed before he had stumbled into the male’s presence. ”Where was I going, do you know?” Burgundy eyes returned to the cold coloured form of the adult, holding a silent plea for an exotic answer that could reveal to him that this was a clever direction to continue in. For now he had met nothing exciting except for the slight change of smell as he had exited Inferni clan lands.

Blonde tail thumped against the hard ground at the thought of exciting adventures. Itachi did not imagine dungeons with dragons and hidden treasures. There were no damsels in distress and no knights in shining armour. There were, however, sights that had not yet been seen by these young eyes, and he was eager to get a better grip of what surrounded the lands the clan had laid claim to. In lack of proper hobbies, what Itachi liked best was to explore the lands. It was interesting to him, and left him content whenever the day was closing and he was back in the cave with his caring grandmother. The prince could always wish he had been shaped better, though all he knew and understood was his flawed self, and ignorance was very often bliss, and only that. Certainly, it was for the child now, for he had not yet discovered that he was capable of things that were looked upon with hideous frowns and stern punishment.
