so it begins!

It had been nice so far, waking up to see Anann beside him in the morning. It was great to be able to turn over and look at her and run his hands over her if she still slept or to just smile at her as she awoke. Anatoliy always started a day early, having been raised a fisherman and they always rose before the sun did. Especially now, in the winter. Though, thankfully, here he slept in more often, as he had little real work. It was depressing for him, but he tried to find ways to entertain himself, and often Anann with him. God, how his heart pounded at the thought of her. Even now, separated from her by his own choice he felt so strongly for her. It couldn't be healthy.

But instead of waiting for her to wake up beside him, the Russo had taken off a short while after waking. He had to go to Halifax and it was a couple of hours of running. Thankfully he used his faster secui form, getting there sooner than if he had strolled on two feet. Such a dangerous form to use. It was cold out, he felt that, but he was used to this. It was colder where he used to live. This was nothing. It was practically warm to him. Besides, what Anatoliy wanted was inside buildings, not outside in the elements. Recently, snow had lightly fallen, but it had not stuck. The pavement seemed to retain heat pretty well, but there were a few puddles of cold water all around. At night, those would surely freeze. Oh soon, soon the world would be white here and the sea even angrier. Just like home.

The moment he had arrived into the city, with the taller buildings around him and shops on the ground floors, the Russo looked for the jewelry stores. It was a moment where he was thankful he could read, even though English came ten times harder for him than Russian. But he found a few, dusty and derelict. Most of the cases in the first one were still intact, so he just wiped the tops off with a sweep of his hand. He saw rings, plain chains, pendants and bracelets. But nothing really, really stood out to him. Nothing that reminded him of Anann. Several cases were broken and falling apart in decay; he avoided these. He heard rats in the backrooms, scurrying about after hearing him enter. Rats, filthy things.

Nothing in that store, the Russo exited, and headed down the street, eyes peeled for another store, maybe a bigger one. He figured it would be this hard. At another one, he hovered near the display from the front, looking through it at the necklaces on display. Anatoliy wanted something like that, to put around her neck that would not be detrimental. If she had piercings, he would have considered matching earrings or something. Just something to remind her that he still thought of her as a woman, but a strong woman. So it could not be something dainty. Anann was no dainty beauty. That's why he loved her.
