There was something about this man, and though Heath could not place his finger on it he did not like it. The gray wolf looked at him in almost a mocking way, as if he held a secret that he was willing to share with the Marshal. There was a smile on his face, something Heath had not expected. When met with a rider, a pack wolf none the less, he expected a lone wolf to be reserved and unsure. Confidence seemed to radiate from this one. It caused Heath to growl ever so slightly.
Lum stopped before Heath asked her to, though the two held such a connection that his body simply slid form her back with a natural and fluid movement. She did not wish to be any closer to the beast, her eyes wide, ears back. Heath took only a single step away from his dearest friend. The words of the male did not make his any calmer, they held a hint of possession. His Anann? the golden female belonged to no beast. Heath could have snarled at the thought of this stranger touching her, for that was the first place his mind went (such things couldn't be helped). How is it that you know Anann? The first question, though Heath had many. He left the strangers unanswered, already too suspicious to give up any information.
