I'm so sorry for the delay with this. ;~; wc:674

The Marino girl did her best to ignore the cool bite of the winter temperatures as she sat beneath the tree decorated with the gaudy declaration of the pack of artists’ borders. The cold slowly but surely worked its way into her extremities, yet the constant movement of her fingers along the strings of her guitar worked well to block some of it out. Her light-colored fur did its job in keeping the rest of her protected against the chill, and while the purple dress she often wore aided this, she wondered if it would be wiser to seek out warmer clothing for herself in the winter.

Eventually she allowed herself to tune everything else out and simply focus on her instrument. She began to play a series of simple scales on her guitar. Emerald eyes fluttered shut and Lucia solely concentrated on the notes being played. Her ears took in each familiar note, and she bobbed her head in silence to punctuate each correctly played scale. There were a few instances where she botched them up, and with an agitated twitch of her ears she would attempt it again.

So focused was she on her music, that she was not aware of the approach of a stranger until she cleared her throat to get her attention. Her strumming came to an abrupt stop, her eyes snapping open to see a multi-toned wolfess standing a few feet away. Gem-like eyes narrowed and scrutinized the stranger for a moment, taking in her stature and the striking amber color of her eyes. The stranger offered her a polite bow almost immediately, though whether out of simple greeting or respect for the packlands she was obviously approaching, Lucia was unsure. The Marino girl did nothing more than watch her in silence, ears perking slightly as the other girl began to speak.

The stranger was quick to introduce herself, revealing her name to be Tala, and more interestingly, that she was of Phoenix Valley. At the mention of the eastern pack, Lucia sat up straight, eyes widening slightly with sudden interest. The sandy-furred girl had not heard anything of her birth pack since she had left it to help Shawchert form this merry band of artists. It was of course due in large part to Lucia’s own lack of interest and initiative. She had left the Valley lands because she had felt that there was nothing more for her there, and had done her best to limit her thoughts of that pack since then. She had been certain that her curiosity about Phoenix Valley would disappear in due time, but the way she perked up at the mention of the pack’s name seemed to argue against that.

Considering Tala’s revealed interest in learning of the packs in this region, it was safe to assume that she was a scout of some sort for the Valley. She requested information, and Lucia figured she would at least be able to offer up what she knew. As one of the founding members of Cercatori d’Arte, Lucia was quite familiar with its lands and its objectives, though on the subject of their newer members, her knowledge was rather limited. Regardless, she didn’t see any reason not to help this girl out, especially since she claimed to hail from Phoenix Valley.

Lucia set her guitar beside her, giving up on practicing for the moment. There was something far more interesting to occupy her time, at the moment. She crossed her legs to a more comfortable position and leaned forward towards the other. Emerald eyes caught the stranger’s amber as she began to speak. “You say you’re from the Valley? How’s that old pack holding up? I used to live there—born there, in fact—but I haven’t gone back since I came here.” She motioned vaguely to the Cercatori d’Arte lands behind her. Sure, this Tala girl was here to learn some about the pack, but that didn’t mean Lucia couldn’t dig for a bit of information herself while she was at it.
