Sermon on the Mount

Ears heard the stranger approaching but no apprehension grew in him. Everything happened for reasons, and coincidences where convenient scapegoats to use instead of deep thought. As it was he had just finished his prayer and was about to leave when she had joined him. Her voice and scent reminded him of that day, she was quite famished and wouldn’t have lasted much longer. But the similarities between how he had come to Dahlia and how she had where not lost on him. So as her nervous words hit his ears and the understanding of what she was trying to say dawned on him he could only think of one answer to reply with.

The cool calmness of his voice rang softly against the wind hinting at his rather unique foreign accent. Years of English had done much to smooth away at his French heritage but it was still there if you listened well enough. “There was once a male who fell and broke his leg not far from where you where. A dark lady came to his aid and brought along another who showed kindness to him. They could have just as easily left him for dead, left him to his fate but they didn’t. Dahlia is a pack full of strays and wanderers, sometimes they come healthy and in search of family, others come starving, hurt and in need of kindness. It matters not my unique looking friend” he added with a smile down to her as he offered a hand to help her up onto the stone he stood atop.

That hand would leave hers once she was up with him to point out the view of the sea before them; they stood atop a cliff that overlooked the dangerous shoreline below. “Do you know your way? The path before you?” he asked simply enough.
