The fire alone had voice here, and the fire hissed and screamed and roared and laughed. They had to go. They had no choices left. So Gabriel held onto her, never looking back. What was done was done, and he couldn’t change it. What the Voice said was God’s will and God’s will was ultimate. If Arkham lived, it was God’s will. He prayed that this would be the case, for even now, he could swear that some of the screaming was not the fire, but those caught in its destruction.
