Pixie could see the look of annoyance on his face, but honestly she didn’t care. She couldn’t see how something that happened in the past that had nothing to do with Jazper could have such an effect on him. She wasn’t necessarily trying to defend Kansas, as she had never even met him officially, but why was Jazper putting all the blame on him? His father had willingly slept with the other male, hadn’t he? It wasn’t all Kansas’s fault, and it seemed like the fact that his father got around a lot was not news to Jazper; it was just that the situation with Kansas was. The anger that Jazper was feeling was difficult for Pixie to understand, as her family was never much of a family as it was just a slightly organized pack. There was little affection that the blue-gray wolfess felt towards her parents and the majority of her siblings, and there was little affection among the whole family in general. It could never really be torn apart because it wasn’t really together in the first place. And so the situation Jazper was in was really very strange to Pixie, and even though, in the back of her mind, she knew she shouldn’t try to interfere because of that, she was never one to stand on the sidelines with no control over what was happening around her. That had been happening to her too much lately, most recently with the bear fight. She should have stepped in, instead of watching her pack mates get injured horribly because of a misunderstanding.

But just when she thought she had a grip on the wounded giant, his last words left her in silence. She watched him slowly leave the library with the help of his crutches, her jaw clenched tightly in frustration of having nothing more to say.
