Today was much cloudier than yesterday, but it did little to dampen Ambrose's intrepid spirits. His encounter at the Phoenix Valley borders had been extraordinarily fruitful, and the chance meeting with another sailor had filled him with hope for his "retirement" here in Nova Scotia. Rendall could not be the only canine with sailing experience on this peninsula, given its wide variety of coastland and its history as a human maritime area. Eager to learn more, he had visited Cour des Miracles that evening and started traveling to Dahlia de Mai soon after, which - now that he thought about it - had probably not been the best idea. He had been forced to find shelter for the rest of the night in a tree-root hollow, like a feral creature. Having spent almost all of his life either at sea or renting space in houses in port cities, the indignity of sleeping under a tree root did not sit well with the old dog. His species had spent an eternity sheltered by the civilized world of man, so unlike with the wolves, comfort and leisure was a concept almost genetically ingrained in the terrier's DNA. And besides, sleeping out in the open had given him aches and pains that he was only beginning to get rid of now that he was walking and stretching out his limbs. This did not, however, stop him from from having a sense of adventure... He kept an eye out for any interesting places to stop at, wondering if he was the only creature traveling in these woods. A traveling companion would be a welcome distraction from the long road still to go.
