all those magical qualities

One or two, please :]

He stopped as soon as his predator disappeared in the haze of the thickening forest. Brexlon slowed his bounding pace until he stood silently in the soft moss underneath the undergrowth. Time went by slowly as he tried to calm his ragged breathing. Every time he was chased by a wolf they eventually tired around the same distance and let him be. With a pleased expression, the elder red deer was oblivious that he had been chased inside another packs borders which had kept the other wolf at bay.

A nervous glance confirmed that he was alone and slowly the stag began grazing on the frosty bits of grass that poked out of the thick moss. Shudders went through his blazing red body as the sweat cooled his body temperature in the cool afternoon air. Sounds of dripping water and small prey surrounded the old stag in a gentle harmony. The coldness only sent aching in his ten-point antlers. Soon he would shed them and be almost defenseless against all the wolves that seem to appear everywhere.

An unnatural sound filled the air and Brexlon lifted his back flecked head cautiously. After more than a minute of another statue pose the red stag bent his head to eat again, black eyes flickering for any signs of more movement. His flamboyant coat stood out starkly against the almost grey hued winter forest. He clicked at a bird perched on a branch a few antler lengths above him. It looked at him with intrigue and a horse-like smile spread Brexlon’s lips. The ability to speech high-speech was an impressive quality that never failed to disturb him. With another chirp the bird took off and the red deer went back to eating.
