Fia had sneaked away from her doting mother and father early in the day, glad to be free. She wanted to explore the world - see what there was to see! Not be groomed all day and staying pretty. That was boring. And Fia wasn't a boring person.
She had romped around for a long while, not thinking ahead to when her parents would undoubtedly get angry at her for running away and exploring. She wasn't a puppy, anyway - she was an adventurer, braving the world's many dangers to see what there was to see! She was Fia the Explorer, brave queen of the explorers and adventurers, first wolf to ever have explored the dangerous Cottontail Valley before.
In fact...not before the young pup's eyes, but before her imagination, the tall, soft grass and the purple flowers morphed from a scene of peace and beauty to one of danger and peril. She was in the middle of the ocean, having to hop from rock to rock to avoid the...the...alligators! Yes, she had to hop from rock to precarious, floating rock on the ocean to avoid the sea-dwelling alligators that would eat her up like a mouse.
"Bad gators!" she shrieked in delight, still hopping to various places as if they were rocks in a stormy ocean. "Can't catch me! I'm invisible!" She meant, of course, invincible, but the young puppy had no way of knowing this.
