The border was quiet, the skulls were perfectly still and calm. The snow had covered the ground, and the only sound Itzal could hear was the Crunch, crunch, crunch Of the snow under his feet. It was calming to him. The air had a bit of a bite to it. But he liked it, it made him less likely to settle down and drift off. Though he would almost never do that. He padded with his four paws crunching in a nice rythm. He was actually in Secui form, he figured there was no chance of running into anyone on the border, but he still liked to shift to each form regularly. And patroling the border was a perfect time for him to shift to secui. He actualy very much liked the feeling of the strength that ran through his legs and body. He smiled to himself as he scanned over the border. The snow was undistrubed today. He had set out earlier to check the border. He had not felt like going out exploring today. Feeling that he had done enough site seeing for a little while. He had been around a little, exploring and getting a lay of the land. He was looking forward to seeing it all in the summer time. It was probably a very nice place. He looked up at the trees covered in snow. Bare of leaves, dead for winter time. It was something that amazed him.

It was like the cycle of their lives were summed up in the time of twelve months. Spring started to cycle. Life begins, the trees sprout, and things begin to grow, prosper. As they age and their lives begin, Life is a new thingto them, Everything is just learning the way things are. It is a time of ease, but also hardships in learning right from wrong, deciding what they were and weren't ok with. And then the summer time came a long. They were getting older, We have all found our way, and are starting to enter our prime, we are warm with life. Everything is ok and growing strong. And then fall comes along. Life starts to grow old. Slowly changing with age. As they change like the leaves, and begin to fall, slowly, the end nearing each passing moment. Until the winter time comes. And The trees are bare of life, dead inside and out. Their year gone by, their life temporarily destroyed. Until it all starts again. Repeating itself again and again. A never endng cycle of death and life, life and death. It amazed him. It was an unstoppable force, something no one could fight, no one could control it. It did not submit to anyone, It was the beauty of nature. He was stunned by it almost daily, and he did not think he would ever fully understand its meaning.

Itzal looked away from the trees and kept walking. As he walked he noticed the skulls along the edge of the border. They were wolf skulls he knew, and it kind of bothered him how much like his own skull they were. his wolf gene was mostly dominant, enough to where he smelled like coyote, but looked like an almost purebred wolf. It was how he had survived in his Uncle's pack so long. But even though he knew he had coyote in his blood, he could not help but see that these skulls were so much like his own, and that he was part of what his own pack hated. He was part wolf. It made him an outside in his own pack in a way. It was scary to him that he had picked a pack where there was chance he would be hated for just being himself. He kept walking on the border, seeing the never ending line of skulls, and wondered if any of them would have been his had he joined another pack. He shivered from the thought of being enemies with the people who were his friends here. Alyssum, Sepirah, even Kesho was considered a friend of his. All of them could have been his enemies. Any of them could have killed him and him them if they were to meet at this very border. It was a scary thought to him, and one he wanted to get rid of. He had made his choices. There was no point in asking 'what if' now. He sighed. Well, at least he was somewhat happy with his life. Though he probably could work on setteling down, maybe finding a mate, his thoughts went to someone he had meant in the pack, and then he shook his head, smiling to himself. Yeah, he would have to work on it.

He kept walking along the border, smelling the air for any signs that anything was out of order. He did not know if anyone else was out doing a official patrol, but either way, the air smelled clean and crisp. The snow crunching underfoot and the way the sunlight reflected off of the snow. He smiled to himself. The snow was like a million crystal, all acting like tiny mirrors as it reflected the light back at him. His golden yellow eyes absorbed the light and his eyes shone with a kind of happyiness. He enjoyed being out walking. The wind blowing through his fur. He did not feel the cold, but he shivered at the chill that seeing it all gave him. He was sure that their was a part of him that was mad, he had lived as that part, but at times like these, he could forget about that part and really appreciate his life. He did not have a bad life. He could not complain now, though his past might have been hard, he had survived, and he was stronger now then he was then. Maybe now was the time for him to start living life to the fullest. He laughed. He did not even want to imagine himself living life to the fullest. That was one scary thought. He smiled to himself as he kept walking along the border.
