Dark days, indeed.

The sky was looking dark ever since the storm had ravaged the area. Element had healed before that, thank goodness, and had hidden in his library home until the storm blew over. He wanted to see how Conor was doing - he was afraid for his friend's pack. The snowstorm had been extremely harsh, even breaking a few windows in the library and possibly causing more damage that Element hadn't noticed. He had been hiding under desks and safe chairs, hoping that the storm wouldn't ruin any of the books in the higher levels.

He had also carefully dragged away books that were left lying around by Luperci, dragging as many books as he could to the center of the library as to escape damage from broken windows. He couldn't save them all, however, and a lot of them had gotten soaked. He had found a nook that was quite safe for him to hide underneath a wall and between several tables that were attached to the floor, along with a sort of shelf that made a 'roof' overhead. There he had hidden, and had dragged a few of his most precious books - the Lord of the Rings trilogy among them - with him in the dark but safe hole, slowly going a bit hungry as he watched the world rage around him.

After the storm, Element had tried to dry out the books by taking ones that had been made soggy by the storm and dragging them out to the window, which had shone almost mirthful sunlight after the hell it had wrought the area of Souls. He had to carry them gently in his mouth, using his paws occasionally, and it was hard work - more than one book had fallen apart in his gentle but firm grip. When he did manage to put them out on the window shelf, however, the pages did dry - if slowly. A lot of the words were now unrecognizable, and Element was saddened by this - but some of the books, a precious few, dried out alright and the words were still legible. Those were the ones with thick covers to protect them.

The books that Element had hidden away with them were safe and dry as he had been, and had not sustained damage. Element had kept them in the nook, however, for the floors were soaked with wetness that had broken through the damaged windows.

The books that were in the inner shelves were drier than any others, and some had not sustained any damage at all. He was afraid to look at the top floors, however - he did not want to see what had happened to those books, those books which pages were undoubtedly strewn across the floor in a maddened frenzy like someone had gotten sick of them and destroyed every last one.

Preoccupied with his books as he was, Element was still a living creature, and so needed food and water. He had ventured outside a day or two after the storm to catch up on well-needed nourishment, then had returned to fixing his library. That was what he did day and night - fixed the books, dried them out, putting aside the ones that were destroyed in a pile in case any words were still legible. If they were, Element would ask someone - anyone - to write them down on new papers and perhaps rewrite the books.

Now, however, he had managed to tear himself away from his home and went to visit his friends in Dahlia de Mai. He hoped they were doing well - the storm had been fierce, and he dreaded what it may have done to their home.
