If it's worth saving

I'm sooooo sorry for the huge wait on this hon. Thankfully it's been a little bit slow here at work and I wanted to try to get at least this post done. It's taken me the entire day to do it, lol! <33333 WC: 720

Saluce was stubborn. Bris chewed her lip as she contemplated what to do, her mismatched eyes watching the brutish blacksmith as he slipped out of the house and into the cold beyond. The two had spoken only yesterday about whether he should attempt to finish closing down his smithy, and Bris had disagreed when he'd set his mind to do it. The weather was still highly unstable, and there were downed trees and misleading snowdrifts all around the grounds of Dahlia de Mai. It was dangerous for anyone to be out in as it was, nevermind how quickly the weather could worsen. Several homes and structures already lie around Dahlia in shambles, including the old Victorian belonging to Conor, Bris, and their family. Luckily, Saluce's home had so far been spared by the snowy onslaught. Being the generous soul that he was, he'd gratiously offered to share it with those displaced from the alpha's Victorian, and Bris couldn't thank him enough for the gesture. The building was far more comfortable than their backup plan would have been.

With a heavy sigh, Bris made up her mind. Saluce was stubborn, but so was she. A quick glance around the house settled her into her decision, noting that Eclipse was currently curled up and out like a light in another room. Tempest was home as well, and Bris felt secure in the knowledge that she could slip out and help their generous host and be home without much disturbance to her rapidly growing daughter. Conor would be nearby soon as well, and Bris followed Saluce's example in raiding one of the rooms for some warm coverings. Normally, even in a harsh winter, her thickened fur would have been enough to get by, but why suffer from chills when one could bundle up? It didn't long to find what she had in mind, and she shrugged on the long, oversized hoodie with only a little trouble. The zipper was forgotten, as it always gave her clawed hands far too much trouble, and she quietly slipped out the front door and into the frigid air outside.

Saluce's tracks weren't hard to follow, though Bris didn't need to. The forge where the male spent much of his time was well-known to everyone who called Dahlia home. As she walked, tucking the hoodie around herself against the bone-chilling wind, the woman's eyes wandered aimlessly. Disbelief glazed her face as she glanced about, taking in the destruction that had run rampant around the land. Trees that had stood for centuries now lay unceremoniously on the ground, their limbs shattered and the earth pulled up around them. Homes, most of which had thankfully been unoccupied, lay in various states of disarray. The landscape had been forever changed in the midst of one giant storm.

As Saluce's smithy finally came into view, Bris felt the breath catch in her chest. Her heart skipped a beat as she took note of the massive oak now laying atop the collapsed roof. A thin line of smoke was streaking out from one side of the structure, and Bris' feet moved into instant flight. "SALUCE!!!" In an instant, the woman was at the entrance, pushing her way through the fallen debri. "Saluce, where are you?! Saluce!! Bris glanced frantically about the interior of the building. The huge tree had crashed through the roof as though it were made of paper. Some of it had fallen into the worst possible place; the hungry embers and flames of the forge had delighted in the sudden supply of fresh tinder, and had begun to catch on the enormous oak and the wood of the building as the heat dried out the snow-soaked timber. Finally, she caught a brief glimpse of dark fur sticking out from underneath the fallen behemoth of an oak. It had fallen directly above the wolf, bringing the roof down on top of him along with it. Not hesitating for a moment's breath, Bris raced to the fallen male's side. She let out a sigh of relief as she noticed his chest moving with his breath, but she doubted there would be a way to dig him out without someone's help, even if it were just Saluce's own. If she couldn't rouse him somehow, she'd have to find some way to get help.
